Fully organized March 31, 1893, West Forks Plantation has a population of 60 and is located in Somerset County.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the plantation has a total area of 49.4 square miles, of which 48.9 square miles is land and 0.6 square miles (1.11%) is water. West Forks is located north of the Dead River and west of the Kennebec just above where the two rivers combine at The Forks.
